What's happening at the farm

Updated 17th April 2024
Kookootonga will be open 9-4 EVERY day March/April 2025

During each season this site is constantly updated to let you know exactly what is happening in the orchard.
Each year can vary, but chestnuts tend to start falling in early/mid March and finish by mid April. Walnuts start to fall in earnest by late March into mid/late April. Because of their huge popularity the demand for walnuts may exceed what our trees can supply.

Weekends and Easter are our busiest periods, often those who arrive after 2pm on Sunday, and in particular on Easter Monday, find that the best of the nuts that have fallen over the weekend have been gathered.
Visitors who arrive during the week find that the farm is very peaceful.
Allow at least one hour for your visit, arriving after 3pm is not advised.

Cards and EFTpos accepted - no surcharge

If you are arriving by car there is no need to book, just turn up.  No entrance fees.

We cannot accommodate buses.

When you arrive at Mount Irvine follow the green and white signs to Kookootonga's car park entrance.

Logon to ChestnutsAustralia  for information on storage, preparation and recipes
