What's happening at the farm

UPDATED: April 18th 2022

Our chestnut and walnut orchard is now closed for the 2022 season.  Thank you to all our visitors, it has been another year that the weather has presented its challenges but you arrived, you smiled and you gathered gorgeous walnuts and chestnuts.

We look forward to greeting you in March/April 2023.

If arriving by car there is no need to book, just turn up. We cannot accomodate large buses.

Don't forget to wear sturdy footwear, gumboots are great for children.  It is also a good idea to bring a raincoat as the weather can be a bit moody.

We update this site constantly during the season so that you have all the latest news here.

It is a short season, usually only lasting for about 5-6 weeks during March and April  When you arrive at Mount Irvine follow the signs to the Kookootonga car park entrance.

Chestnuts tend to fall by early/mid March and finish by mid April. Walnuts start to fall in earnest by late March into April. Because of their huge popularity the demand for walnuts often exceeds what our trees can supply.  Those who arrive late (especially on Sundays) often find that the walnuts that have fallen have already been gathered.
